Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima called on Filipinos to intensify the fight against corruption and political dynasties during her speech at the “Trillion Peso March 3,” held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
De Lima pointed to what she described as widespread corruption, misuse of public funds, disinformation, entrenched political clans, and continuing injustice.
"Sa mga nangyayari ngayon, ‘yong mga natutuklasang malawakang korapsyon, pagnakaw sa pera ng bayan na kaunti pa lang ang napapanagot... Huwag na huwag nating bitawan ang diwa ng EDSA,” she said, urging the public to remain steadfast in defending democratic values.
She emphasized the need to strengthen the fight for truth, accountability, good governance, justice, and democracy, stressing that the struggle that began in 1986 is far from over. Reflecting on the historic uprising, De Lima recalled how a dictator who believed he could not be removed from power was ultimately ousted by ordinary citizens armed not with weapons but with faith and unity.
Her remarks framed the rally not merely as a protest but as a renewed commitment to pursue systemic reforms and resist corruption and political dynasties. Organizers described the march as both a commemoration of People Power and a call to action to safeguard democratic institutions four decades after the peaceful revolution.
