Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga has been released from the Dasmariñas Component City Police Station after posting bail on the same night he surrendered, according to the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO).
Dasmariñas police said Barzaga was released at around 10:25 p.m.
This came on the same day that the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 147 issued a warrant for his arrest over eight counts of violation of Section 4(c) of Republic Act No. 10175.
Barzaga is facing cyberlibel complaints filed by Enrique Razon, Ronaldo Puno, and Rolando Valeriano. The complaints stem from his allegations that members of the National Unity Party were bribed by the businessman to support former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Court records showed that Barzaga faces eight separate counts of cyberlibel, with bail set at ₱48,000 per count, amounting to a total of ₱384,000.
