Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the Philippine National Police (PNP) is prepared to comply with the Sandiganbayan’s approval allowing former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel “Manny” Bonoan to stay temporarily at the PNP General Hospital.
Speaking to reporters at Camp Crame, Remulla confirmed that Bonoan recently underwent medical procedures following a heart attack.
“He [Bonoan] had two procedures this week to treat his heart attack,” Remulla said.
The DILG chief explained that Bonoan’s stay at the PNP General Hospital is only a temporary arrangement while authorities continue to monitor his condition.
“If we cannot handle it then we will ask permission from the courts to transfer him to a more advanced facility like The Medical City,” he added.
The statement came after the Sandiganbayan granted the request to transfer Bonoan for medical treatment while he remains under government custody.
