Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla denied online claims that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is planning to purchase mini fire trucks reportedly costing ₱10 million each for the Unified 911 system.
Remulla clarified that the fire tricycles circulating online were purchased by the Nueva Ecija local government unit, not the DILG.
“To be clear, ang bumili nun, Nueva Ecija,” Remulla said in an interview.
He added that the DILG’s planned fire trucks are sourced from South Korea and have a 750-gallon capacity, with each unit costing ₱10 million.
“Ang binibili namin galing South Korea, ₱10 million each, 750 gallons capacity,” Remulla said.
Remulla also dismissed the viral posts as misinformation, saying the DILG is not purchasing the type of mini fire trucks shown online.
“Pero Nueva Ecija ang bumili non, hindi kami. Pero, siyempre, pine-fake news na naman kami,” he said.
When asked to confirm whether the Nueva Ecija LGU purchased the fire tricycles, Remulla replied, “Yes.”
