Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has requested the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to extend for one year the active service of Regional Office 4A police chief Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan.
According to a report RH Edniel Parrosa, Remulla confirmed the request to members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Press Corps on Friday, July 3.
In his letter, Remulla cited the importance of Marantan's role in overseeing what he described as "critical" and "ongoing high-impact operations," which he said warranted the extension of the police official's service.
However, the DILG secretary did not specify in the letter the particular operations that Marantan is currently leading.
Marantan, the director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A or Calabarzon, is set to reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on July 10, 2026.
Before assuming his current post, Marantan served as director of the Davao City Police Office, where he led operations that resulted in the arrest of religious leader Apollo Quiboloy.
