The remains of a Filipina who died in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel, earlier this month have been brought back to the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed.

According to the DFA, the remains of Lucille Jean Gershovich, 29, arrived in Manila on Thursday, April 16. Her family was present to receive her remains.

“The remains of the late Lucille Jean Gershovich, the Filipino national who was killed in a missile attack in a residence in Haifa, Israel on the evening of 05 April 2026, arrived in Manila on 16 April 2026,” the DFA said in a statement.

“Her family was present to receive her remains,” it added.

Gershovich was among those killed in a strike that hit a residential area in Haifa on April 5. Her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law were also reported to have died in the incident, which occurred amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The DFA said it extended full assistance to the victim’s immediate family, including coordination for the repatriation of her remains to her home province in Lanao del Norte.

“Following through on the commitment of Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro made during a phone call with the next-of-kin, the Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs, and the Consular Office in Clarin, extended all necessary assistance to the family including facilitating the shipment,” the agency said.

The case marks the second reported Filipino fatality amid the ongoing US–Israel and Iran conflict, following the first casualty reported in March 2026.
