A first-class relic of St. Carlo Acutis is set to return to the Philippines later this year for a second national tour, with stops planned across the Visayas region, organizers said.
The relic, a portion of Acutis’ pericardium — the membrane surrounding and protecting the heart — will be brought to churches in Cebu and other parts of the Visayas from November to December for public veneration.
The upcoming visit follows the relic’s first appearance in the country, which drew large crowds during an 18-day Luzon tour from November 27 to December 15, 2025. The pilgrimage covered at least 29 churches across 16 dioceses.
Franciscan Fr. Jerome Ponce, national spiritual director of the Friends of St. Carlo Acutis – Philippines, said the Visayas leg marks the second phase of a broader nationwide pilgrimage. He added that Mindanao is expected to host a future leg, although details have yet to be finalized.
Acutis, an Italian teenager known for using digital platforms to promote devotion to Eucharistic miracles, was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on Sept. 7, 2025. His life and message have since drawn widespread attention among young Catholics worldwide.
Organizers said preparations are underway with local dioceses to accommodate expected large numbers of devotees during the Visayas tour.`
