The Red Alert status for the Visayas grid was lifted on Thursday afternoon, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

“As of 12:45 PM, red alert has been lifted by NGCP for the Visayas grid,” it announced.

At present, its available capacity stands at 2,532 Megawatts (MW), while peak demand is at 2,354MW.

However, the grid remains under Yellow Alert until 10:00 p.m.

A yellow alert is declared whenever the electricity supply runs low, so that there is not enough surplus power to cover emergencies or sudden problems in the grid.
