A record-breaking 1,757 job applicants joined Pasig City’s job fair, held in commemoration of the 124th Labor Day on May 1, 2026, at Robinsons Metro East, the city government said in a statement on Sunday.
Many of the applicants were looking for jobs overseas. To support them, the local government unit (LGU) launched a Pre-employment Orientation Seminar to prepare them for employment abroad and warn them about illegal recruiters.
A number of the applicants are senior high school graduates, so the LGU facilitated a JobStart Program for them, under the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
The job fair also featured one-on-one employment coaching, offered by the Pasig City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, to aid in the initial assessment of applicants.
Another highlight of the event was a 3D printing training showcase by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), while the DOLE gave a labor education seminar, where applicants were taught the government-mandated benefits and rights they are entitled to under the Labor Code.
Acting Mayor Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Labor & Employment and Manpower Development Chairperson Councilor Coach Paul Senogat personally visited the job fair.
“If you want to go further in life and up the ladder, it is not enough that you carry out your duties well. You should always strive to perform beyond what is expected of you,” Jaworski told applicants.
The job fair was made possible through the collaboration of PESO and DOLE-NCR, along with partner employers from the private sector and government agencies, who took the time to equip Pasig’s applicants before they enter the labor force.
