Filipinos visiting cemeteries for Undas should prepare for a rainy weekend, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts widespread rain across the country due to the combined effects of e Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and two weather systems.
The weather bureau said that the low-pressure area has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the forecast period.
In an interview with DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, PAGASA weather specialist Chanel Dominguez said that the ITCZ will continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over:
- Eastern and Central Visayas
- Zamboanga Peninsula
- BARMM
- SOCCSKSARGEN
- Northern Mindanao
- Caraga
- Masbate
- Sorsogon
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, fair weather is expected, though hot and humid conditions will persist during the day, with localized thunderstorms likely in the late afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also raised a gale warning over the waters of Batanes and Babuyan Islands, warning small fishing vessels and coastal residents to avoid sea travel due to rough conditions.
The weather bureau advised the public to monitor regular weather updates, especially those planning to visit cemeteries or travel during the long weekend.
