Several parts of the country, including Palawan, Quezon, and areas in Mindanao, may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms on Sunday, October 18, due to the prevailing weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Palawan and the western section of Mindanao, while easterlies are influencing the rest of the country.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental, as well as Palawan.

Quezon and Camarines Norte may also experience similar weather conditions due to the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over SOCCSKSARGEN, the rest of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Metro Manila, and other parts of the country.

Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said light to moderate winds from the northeast to east are expected over Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the southeast to northeast, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

Residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to remain alert, particularly during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms, and to monitor PAGASA's latest weather advisories for updates.
