The Quiapo Church expressed condolences over the death of photojournalist Itoh Son, who passed away while performing his duties during the Traslacion period. Church officials extended sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

Rev. Fr. Robert Arellano, spokesperson for Nazareno 2026, said the church deeply regrets the incident but clarified that it is not being considered a casualty directly related to the Traslacion.

He explained that the photojournalist had a pre-existing medical condition and that the incident did not occur during the actual procession.

Son was immediately rushed to a hospital in Manila after the incident, but was declared dead on arrival.
