Quiapo Church and local government authorities have issued a stern reminder to devotees ahead of the annual Traslacion of the Jesus Nazareno, emphasizing that climbing the andas (carriers of the image) will not be allowed for safety reasons.

Bro. Alex Irasga, Chief Coordinator of Traslacion 2026, appealed to parents and senior devotees to protect children during the procession.

Ingatan po natin sila,” he added.

He noted that children often attempt to climb the glass enclosures or jump from heights as high as four meters, risking serious injury.

The church also reiterated to the public to avoid climbing canopies, rooftops, or fences along the procession route.

Irasga encouraged alternative ways for devotees to participate, such as pulling the ropes, waving handkerchiefs, chanting, or praying—without climbing the andas.

The church also appealed for cooperation with police, describing them as fellow devotees managing the procession. He warned the public against social media posts that portray the police as adversaries or seek to disrupt the Traslacion.

Authorities and church organizers reiterated that the safety of all participants, especially the youth, remains a top priority for the upcoming Traslacion.
