Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the opening of a new Barangay Basketball Court with an underground detention basin in Barangay Sta. Monica on Saturday, marking the start of new infrastructure projects for the year.
The detention basin, with a capacity of 1,700 cubic meters, was built to help address flooding in the area by temporarily storing rainwater and connecting it to the city’s drainage system.
City officials who attended the ceremony included District 5 Action Officer William Bawag, City Engineer Atty. Dale Perral, City Architect Red Avelino, Internal Audit Service head Atty. Noel Gascon, P/B Charlie Manalad, and Palmera Phase 3 President Napoleon Azuncion.
The project aims to provide both a recreational space for residents and a sustainable solution to flooding in the community.
