Typhoon Queenie has moved outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country on Monday, September 28, according to PAGASA.
As of 3 a.m. Monday, PAGASA located Typhoon Surigae, formerly known locally as Queenie, at 1,055 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, at 26.4°N, 130.2°E.
The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph. It was moving east-northeastward at 15 kph.
PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Palawan and Lanao del Sur due to the ITCZ.
The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the ITCZ.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA had earlier forecast that Queenie would move away from the country after exiting PAR. Its latest weather outlook also indicated that the ITCZ would continue to bring rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
The public is advised to continue monitoring PAGASA for updates, particularly on thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and other weather disturbances.
