Quezon City residents kicked off 2026 with an energetic start as QCitizens joined the first Car-free, Carefree Tomas Morato Sunday of the year, participating in various fitness and recreational activities along Tomas Morato Avenue.

Organized with the Quezon City Civil Registry Department, the event featured Zumba sessions, jogging, cycling, skating, group exercises, and interactive games, drawing families, fitness enthusiasts, and community groups to the car-free stretch.

The weekly initiative is held every Sunday under City Ordinance No. 3345-2024, which temporarily closes a portion of Tomas Morato Avenue, from Scout Rallos to Don A. Roces, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to provide a safe, open space for physical activities.

City officials said the program is part of Quezon City’s broader push to promote wellness, active living, and community engagement, giving residents a chance to unwind, recharge, and enjoy a healthier urban lifestyle.
