The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office (QC-PO) has dismissed the complaint filed by Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, against several lawmakers and officials of the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said the QC-PO dismissed the complaint because the case falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Ombudsman.

The 23-page QC-PO resolution stated that the prosecutor’s office had no jurisdiction to act on the complaint. The dismissal stemmed from an agreement between the Ombudsman and the DOJ concerning the handling of cases within the QC-PO’s jurisdiction.

Carpio’s complaint was related to the disclosure of the bank transactions of him and Vice President Duterte by the AMLC in connection with the impeachment proceedings before the House of Representatives.

The complaint was filed against lawmakers and AMLC officials involved in the disclosure, which Carpio questioned as part of the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
