Quezon City recorded 221 new cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) from Sept. 13 to Oct. 10, a 13% increase from the 195 cases reported in the previous four weeks, the city’s epidemiology office said.
The Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD) reported a total of 1,578 ILI cases from Jan. 1 to Oct. 15, 2026.
Children aged 14 and younger accounted for 120, or 54.3%, of the newly recorded cases. The patients ranged in age from 3 months to 91 years old.
District 4 recorded the highest number of new cases at 61, followed by District 2 with 47, according to the QCESD.
The city also reported 14 clusters of cases across 11 barangays, including U.P. Campus, Batasan Hills, Dona Aurora, Escopa III, Holy Spirit, Kalusugan, Matandang Balara, Pansol, Pasong Putik, Proper, Ramon Magsaysay and Sangandaan.
Of the 221 cases, 70 tested positive for identified pathogens, with influenza A being the most commonly detected, accounting for 14 cases.
The QCESD urged residents to observe proper respiratory hygiene, wear masks when experiencing respiratory symptoms, wash their hands frequently and avoid touching their faces with unclean hands.
It also advised sick individuals to maintain distance from others and stay home to prevent further transmission.
The organization continues monitoring ILI cases and areas reporting increases to support the early detection of and response to the spread of the illness.
