The Quezon City local government unit (LGU) advised motorists regarding anticipated traffic congestion along roads near the EDSA People Power Monument ahead of the Trillion Peso March 3 on Wednesday, February 25.
Due to the third Trillion Peso March, led by Caritas Philippines and other civil society groups, motorists can expect that from 8:00 a.m., the following roads may see heavy traffic flow:
-
Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA)
-
Katipunan Avenue
-
Ortigas Avenue
-
White Plains Avenue
-
Temple Drive
To prepare for the said activity, the LGU will be implementing a zipper lane along the length of White Plains Avenue, between EDSA and Katipunan Avenue, from 9:00 p.m. on the day before, February 24, until 6 a.m. on the day itself.
On February 25, the day of the rally, White Plains Avenue will be temporarily closed off to vehicles, starting 6 a.m.
The LGU assured that the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Task Force Disiplina, Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be on standby to provide assistance and manage traffic in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, motorists are advised to go through alternative routes.
The Trillion Peso March 3 coincides with the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
