Around 300 personnel of the disbanded Task Force Disiplina will remain under the Quezon City government’s Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) and will not lose their jobs, an official said.
On Wednesday, DPOS head retired General Elmo San Diego convened the personnel to discuss the process of transferring them to the department, according to a report by RH Val Gonzales.
The personnel were instructed to secure police clearances and undergo drug and neuropsychological tests, with the requirements set for submission by October 19.
He added that a point system will be implemented for those who fail to report or submit the required documents.
San Diego clarified that the personnel would no longer wear Task Force Disiplina uniforms and that all its outposts would be removed. Instead, they will wear DPOS uniforms and serve as force multipliers in maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that they are not police officers.
He added that the personnel would undergo reorientation and retraining to prepare them for their new roles.
The city government will likewise offer scholarship opportunities to personnel who have not yet completed college, allowing them to finish their studies, San Diego said.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte ordered the abolishment of Task Force Disiplina after three teenagers were killed on Monday, Oct. 12, in an incident involving an allegedly intoxicated Task Force Disiplina member.
