The Quezon City Government has reiterated that the public may freely access and use the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) Elevated Promenade, stressing that no fees are being collected for entry or passage through the area.
The clarification followed a report from a citizen who was allegedly asked to pay ₱10 while using the promenade. City officials emphasized that any collection of money in the area is unauthorized, illegal, and strictly prohibited under local government policy governing public spaces.
According to the statement released on Sunday, the security personnel currently deployed at the QMC Elevated Promenade are outsourced from a third-party security agency contracted to help maintain order and safety in the vicinity. The reported incident has already been formally referred to the concerned security agency for immediate investigation and appropriate disciplinary action.
The Quezon City Government also announced that it will launch its own parallel inquiry to determine responsibility, ensure accountability among those involved, and strengthen monitoring measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Officials reminded the public that QMC is a public park intended for the free use and enjoyment of residents and visitors. The city government assured that it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of public services and maintaining transparency in the management of public facilities.
Residents were encouraged to report any similar incidents directly to city authorities as the local government continues efforts to improve oversight in public areas.
