The Quezon City government expressed grief over the death of a 53-year-old woman who was scheduled to receive Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) aid during a payout activity at Quezon City Hall.
In an official statement, the local government confirmed that the resident from Barangay Sauyo reportedly lost consciousness and hit her head while waiting in line at the Risen Garden area of City Hall, where the payout under the office of Councilor Vito Sotto was being conducted.
“Ikinalulungkot ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ang pagpanaw ng isang ginang na nakatakdang makakuha ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS),” the city government stated.
Emergency responders from the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately attended to the woman and rushed her to East Avenue Medical Center for medical treatment. Despite efforts by hospital personnel, she was declared dead several minutes later.
The city government said it has already extended burial assistance to the bereaved family and will also refer the victim’s youngest child to the city’s scholarship program.
“Patuloy na nakikipag-ugnayan ang lokal na pamahalaan sa pamilya ng ginang upang alamin kung paano pa sila maaaring matulungan,” the statement added.
Authorities also assured the public that safety measures and protocols for all activities held at City Hall will undergo review to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
“Makakaasa ang bawat QCitizen na rerepasuhin ng lokal na pamahalaan ang pagpapatupad ng mga protocol, partikular sa usapin ng kaligtasan,” the Quezon City government said.
