The Quezon City Regional Trial Court has granted the motion filed by the camp of Vice President Sara Duterte seeking oral arguments on whether she should be arrested in connection with the grave threats case filed against her.
The oral arguments are scheduled for Thursday, August 20.
The development follows Duterte’s legal team’s earlier push to have the court hear their arguments on the motion seeking the dismissal of the grave threats cases.
The defense has argued that oral arguments are necessary to address the legal issues raised in its motion and to clarify whether the cases against the Vice President should proceed.
The court’s decision to allow oral arguments gives Duterte’s lawyers an opportunity to present their position directly before the court before it determines the appropriate action on the cases.
The proceedings on August 20 are expected to focus on the legal arguments surrounding the motion and the issue of Duterte’s possible arrest in relation to the grave threats complaints.
