The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday said a Quezon City court has convicted a mother for selling her child online.

In a decision dated April 14, 2026, the Regional Trial Court Branch 94 found the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610, the law protecting children from abuse and exploitation.

The court upheld the accused’s voluntary plea of guilty to a lesser offense, made with full understanding and with the consent of both the prosecution and the complainant.

The accused was sentenced to four years, nine months and 11 days to six years, eight months and one day in prison, and fined 15,000 pesos.

She was also ordered to pay 20,000 pesos each in moral, exemplary and temperate damages, with 6% annual interest.

The DOJ said the conviction highlights its commitment to protecting children and prosecuting offenders.
