Sen. Erwin Tulfo criticized Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano for repeatedly holding Facebook livestreams instead of attending plenary sessions, saying the chamber’s top leader appears to be prioritizing “vlogging” over his official duties.

Tulfo said Cayetano’s frequent online broadcasts raise questions about his commitment to preside over Senate proceedings, particularly as sessions have been stalled for days.

“Ayun yung problema, puro siya Facebook, puro siya live. Bakit gusto niya maging vlogger na lamang? So, bakit hindi na lang po?” Tulfo said in a media interview.

The senator said the absence of the Senate president from plenary sessions, despite no declared emergency or valid reason, undermines the institution’s work and delays legislation.

He stressed that presiding over sessions is a fundamental responsibility of the Senate president, adding that failure to attend while engaging in repeated livestreams sends the wrong message to the public.

What does it tell you? Sayang, yung pasweldo sa kanya ng tao,” Tulfo said, noting that lawmakers receive substantial salaries funded by taxpayers.

Tulfo also pointed out that sessions have not been held for two days, calling the situation “embarrassing” for the Senate.

He also backed earlier calls by his brother, Sen. Raffy Tulfo, for Cayetano to resign, citing what he described as repeated lapses in leadership.
