The National Unity Party (NUP) is set to push for the expulsion of suspended Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga from the House of Representatives.

According to a report by RH Milky Rigonan, House Deputy Speaker and NUP Chairman Ronaldo Puno said the party plans to consult with House members and formally request Barzaga’s expulsion.

“Baka hihilingin na namin na i-expel na rin siya kasi parang outright defiance na of everything that is going on,” Puno said during an interview with reporters.

Puno clarified that in addition to seeking Barzaga’s expulsion, the party will continue pursuing legal action against him in court.

"Magfile pa kami ng bagong complaint kasi ang nangyayari dito paulit-ulit, parang binabalewala ‘yung mga desisyon ng ethics committee. Binabalewala ‘yung desisyon ng Congress nitong si Cong. Barzaga," he added.

He added that Barzaga has not shown signs of stopping his negative attacks against the institution.

“Tsaka bad fate na siya kasi susunod tapos hindi, it comes up [na] nag-iimbento ng kung ano-ano hindi talaga ito behavior ng tunay na mambabatas. Parang naging laro-laro na lang,” Puno said.

“I think it demeans the House to have somebody like him there. So, baka naman the House will consider expel him na lang para wala ng ganyang problema,” he added.

The move comes amid allegations that NUP members received bribes from billionaire businessman Enrique Razon to support Leyte Rep. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez during the 2025 midterm elections.

Razon had previously filed a cyber libel case against Barzaga at the Makati Regional Trial Court. Barzaga, in turn, stated he is ready to face the billionaire in court along with the evidence he intends to present.
