A 45-year-old public school teacher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Compostela, Davao de Oro, after allegedly selling suspected shabu worth ₱7,000 to an undercover operative, authorities said.
The operation was conducted at around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, in Purok 8, Barangay Poblacion, by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 11, through its Davao de Oro Provincial Office, in coordination with the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office and the Compostela Municipal Police Station.
Authorities identified the suspect only by the alias “Jesly.”
Operatives recovered five additional sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 73 grams, with an estimated standard drug value of ₱496,400. They also seized the marked money used in the alleged transaction.
The confiscated substances were secured for documentation and laboratory examination.
The suspect is set to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.
PDEA Region 11 Director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspi reiterated the agency’s commitment to pursuing suspected illegal drug activities regardless of a person’s profession or social standing.
He also urged the public to report suspected drug-related activities to the authorities.
