The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has announced a 69-strong para-athlete delegation that will represent the country at the 5th Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from Oct. 18 to 24.
The Philippine team will compete in 11 para-sports: archery, athletics, badminton, cycling, judo, powerlifting, fencing, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and wheelchair basketball.
Lhey Manginsay, a 23-year-old athlete from Zamboanga Sibugay, will carry the Philippine flag during the multisport competition.
The PSC expressed confidence in the country's chances, targeting at least four to five gold medals against the region's top para-athletes.
The weeklong Games will be held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, featuring 18 sports and 502 medal events. Organizers expect around 3,000 to 4,000 athletes and officials from 45 nations and regions to participate.
The opening ceremony is scheduled at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya.
