Protesters who are calling for the withdrawal of support for the government during the Trillion Peso March 2.0 on Sunday, November 30, should be arrested, according to the Department of National Defense (DND) Sec. Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro.
“That’s totally illegal, and that’s inciting to sedition. What you cannot do directly, you cannot do indirectly with the law,” Teodoro explained.
“When you say withdrawal of support, it’s an indirect way of saying I’ll take over. Which is illegal,” he added, stating that cops should arrest protesters and file a case of inciting to sedition.
Meanwhile, Teodoro said that the DND, along with concerned agencies, is preparing for all possible threats for the upcoming rally. He said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be on the frontline, while the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be on standby for emergencies.
Despite this, the DND Secretary said he hopes that the Trillion Peso March 2.0 on Sunday will be peaceful.
On Friday, November 28, Tindig Pilipinas co-convenor Francis Joseph Kiko Aquino-Dee explained the protest’s objectives, emphasizing the movement’s commitment to exercising freedom of expression within the bounds of the 1987 Constitution.
