The Las Piñas National High School issued a statement Friday after a stabbing inside its campus left one student dead, as education officials and police launched an investigation and called on the public to avoid spreading unverified information.

The incident on July 31 involved two Grade 9 students and resulted in the death of one of them, according to the Schools Division Office of Las Piñas City.

School officials said they immediately coordinated with authorities following the violence, which occurred despite existing safety and security measures on campus.

“Ikinalulungkot naming ipinahahayag ang insidente ng karahasan sa pagitan ng mag-aaral ng Las Piñas National High School,” the school said in a statement, adding that it is cooperating with the proper authorities as part of established procedures.

The Schools Division Office said it is working closely with local officials, barangay authorities and the Philippine National Police to conduct a “thorough and impartial investigation.” It added that administrative reviews of school security protocols are also underway.

Education officials said guidance personnel would be deployed to provide psychological first aid and psychosocial support to affected students, teachers and staff.

“School Guidance Advocates will be onsite to provide psychological first aid and psychosocial support to concerned students, teaching and non-teaching personnel,” the division office said.

Both the school and the division office urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified reports, photos or videos that could disrupt the investigation or cause further distress to those involved.

They also appealed for calm and respect for the grieving family, noting that the case involves minors.

The school called for stronger cooperation among families, educators and the community to help instill discipline, respect and accountability among students, and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment.
