The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has dismissed Police Senior Master Sergeant John L. Mollenido from service after finding him liable for grave misconduct, neglect of duty, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
In a decision by the Commission En Banc, Mollenido was held accountable in connection with the deaths of his estranged wife and minor son in January 2026.
Records showed the wife’s decomposing body was found in Pulilan, Bulacan, on January 24, 2026, while the child’s remains were later discovered in Victoria, Tarlac. Autopsy results indicated the wife died from a gunshot wound and the child from asphyxia.
Despite an ongoing investigation, Mollenido authorized and facilitated the cremation of both remains before the completion of medico-legal procedures, resulting in the loss of potential evidence.
NAPOLCOM said the act violated laws against obstruction of justice and regulations governing the handling of medico-legal cases.
The Commission imposed dismissal from service with accessory penalties, stressing that police personnel are bound to uphold the law and protect the integrity of investigations.
