A police lieutenant assigned as deputy chief of the Noveleta Police Station in Cavite has been placed under restrictive custody after being accused of raping a female detainee.

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño confirmed that the suspect, a commissioned officer, is now under the custody of the Cavite Provincial Police Office while an investigation is underway.

According to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, the complaint stemmed from a 911 call made by the 34-year-old victim, who was earlier detained for a drug-related offense.

She alleged that on the night of September 3, the suspect took her out of the detention cell and brought her to a quarters where he allegedly raped her overnight.

The victim has since filed a rape complaint against the officer. Meanwhile, the station chief of Noveleta Police has also been relieved from duty pending the investigation.

Authorities said the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) is conducting a parallel probe, assuring that the case will be handled with “utmost transparency and accountability.”
