Poland and Argentina delivered a historic showdown in the Volleyball Nations League, producing the longest set in tournament history with a 48–50 opening frame that lasted 62 minutes.
Argentina edged Poland in the marathon first set, surpassing the previous VNL record of 44–42 set earlier in the same season between Türkiye and Germany.
Poland recovered from the grueling opener and went on to win the match in four sets, 48–50, 26–24, 25–19, 25–20, in front of a home crowd in Gliwice.
The record-breaking set featured extended rallies, multiple set points on both sides and a display of endurance rarely seen at the international level.
Despite dropping the opener, Poland regrouped behind improved blocking and consistent attacking to take control of the match.
The result added another chapter to the 2026 VNL season, which has already seen several record-setting performances.
