Actress and comedian Marietta Subong, popularly known as Pokwang, took to Facebook on December 16 to address the controversy, confirming that the irate driver who went viral online is indeed her brother.

She delivered her message with sarcasm, saying, “Opo, kapatid ko po ’yon. Nag-viral siya, ang galing noh, ano po? Ang galing,” while clapping her hands sarcastically.

She emphasized that her brother’s actions should not reflect on her or the rest of their family, stating, “Paalala lang po na ang kasalanan ni Pedro ay hindi po pwedeng maging kasalanan ni Juan,” explaining that despite sharing the same surname, they have different beliefs and actions.

Following her remarks, Pokwang apologized to the scavenger who was physically attacked by her brother in the viral video. She also expressed sympathy for the victim’s young daughter, saying that as a mother herself, she understands the situation and plans to visit the child.

“Pero lagi po nating iisipin na laging may other side of the story, pero sige po, sa amin na lang po iyon,” the actress added.

Pokwang also reminded the public about cyberbullying and cyber libel, particularly calling out those who continue to share photos of her entire family online.

She expressed gratitude to the Antipolo mayor for assisting in addressing the issue and warned a politician who she said spoke about the issue by posting her family’s photos online.

“Ingat po kayo, kasi mambabatas pa naman kayo, so alam po ninyo dapat po yung tinatawag nating cyber libel, cyber bullying, Sir,” she said, clarifying that only her brother was involved in the wrongdoing.

The actress shared that due to the controversy, her family’s privacy and security have been compromised. She stressed that she is not siding with her brother’s behavior.

Pokwang ended her video with a reminder to the public, “Sana nag-iingat po kayo sa mga post ninyo, sa mga comment ninyo,” and once again apologized for her brother’s road rage incident and physical assault.
