The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has unveiled the official player pools for the Alas Pilipinas women’s and men’s volleyball teams set to compete in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan this September.

In a statement, the POC said it has taken direct supervision and management of the national volleyball program for upcoming major international campaigns, emphasizing its mandate to protect athlete welfare and ensure the continued development of the sport.

Bannered by rising star Bella Belen, the women’s team will be handled by Japanese coach Takayuki Minowa, who has been reappointed to lead the squad. The roster features a mix of established standouts and emerging talent, including Angel Canino, Alyssa Solomon, Jia De Guzman and Justine Jazareno.

The men’s team, meanwhile, will be led by Italian tactician Angiolino Frigoni, who also returns as head coach. The lineup is anchored by key players such as Bryan Bagunas, Marck Espejo and Jude Garcia.

Both coaching appointments will take effect on July 1 and run through Oct. 15, covering the full Asian Games campaign.

The POC said it has finalized a “masterplan” for the Nagoya meet under the leadership of President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Secretary-General Wharton Chan, with coordination from the Premier Volleyball League to provide logistical and competitive support, particularly for the women’s squad.

Coaches will have full discretion to trim the final 12-player rosters for the tournament.

“No hurdle will compromise our commitment to flag and country,” the POC said. “The mission to elevate Philippine volleyball on the world stage continues.”
