Defense panel spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa on Monday clarified the reference to "Oplan Romanov," an alleged plot against Vice President Sara Duterte and her family, which the defense has cited as part of the context behind her controversial death threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Speaking during the Office of the Vice President's press briefing on the impeachment trial, Poa stressed that he would not discuss the merits of the alleged operation, saying he could only speak about what was shown during the video presented in the proceedings.

"Oplan Romanov, again, I don't want to venture into the merits, so I'll just give you what was factual, what we saw in the video. In the video, Oplan Romanov was being referred to as alleged, and I would say alleged, so I want to be very careful about this," Poa said.

He explained that, based on his personal knowledge and the video, "Oplan Romanov" referred to an alleged threat against the life of the vice president and her family, emphasizing that the description came from a question raised during the Zoom press conference referenced in the impeachment proceedings.

"This is what I have personal knowledge. It's the alleged threat against the life of the Vice President as well as her family. So, yun yung sinasabing Oplan Romanov... But, aside from that, I have no further knowledge of that and I would not like to delve into that because wala naman akong facts na hawak-hawak," he added.

Poa underscored that he has no additional factual information about the alleged operation beyond what was discussed in the recorded press conference presented during the impeachment trial.
