Defense lawyer Atty. Michael Poa on Monday said he objected to the way a prosecution lawyer read out the name “Andy C. Lim” and other individuals during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, arguing it could give an unintended implication.

Poa said Private Prosecutor Atty. Lorna Kapunan’s manner of stating the name appeared to “add color” to it, even as she clarified for the record that she was reading it as written in the documents presented.

“With all due respect to Atty. Kapunan, hindi ko naman gusto talaga mag-object kung hindi kinakailangan. ‘Yon lang kasi parang nabibigyan ng kulay kapag ganung mga pangalan,” Poa said.

He added that while Kapunan noted she was merely reading the name as written, he still found the phrasing questionable.

“No offense meant to Atty. Kapunan, I’m just doing my job as counsel. I found the question to be questionable,” Poa said, noting that he had limited his objections despite seeing other instances he believed did not require one.

The name “Andy C. Lim” appeared among the signatories in acknowledgment receipts presented in court earlier in the day, in connection with allegations of the misuse of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President.

Earlier, the House prosecution team presented several acknowledgment receipts, most reflecting amounts exceeding ₱50,000, linked to various individuals, including one listed as “Mary Grace Piattos,” as part of its evidence on the alleged irregular use of confidential funds.
