The Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to discuss the possible retirement honors for former PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III following his appointment as General Manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
During a press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP spokesperson PBGen. Randulf T. Tuaño said that, based on the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Torre is now considered ipso facto resigned from the police force upon accepting the civilian post. He added that the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) will determine the appropriate procedure regarding any potential retirement honors.
Despite this, Tuaño said the PNP welcomes Torre’s appointment, noting that his new role is expected to strengthen coordination between the MMDA and the Highway Patrol Group, particularly in traffic management.
Meanwhile, there is still no update on when Acting PNP Chief PLtGen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. will receive his official command directive, as the order is expected to come from Malacañang.
