The Philippine National Police (PNP) has issued a warning to the public against online scams such as fake Airbnb listings and the so-called “Rent-Tangay” scheme, which are expected to resurface during the Undas season.

In a report by Edniel Parrosa, Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said that the public should be cautious of offers that appear “too good to be true,” especially for Airbnb accommodations or vehicle rentals. He said such deals are often signs of scams or fraudulent activities.

In line with this, the PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group are set to release separate advisories to guide vacationers and travelers returning to their provinces who may be targeted by these online scams.

As of midnight, the PNP has raised its alert status to heightened alert across Metro Manila, which will remain in effect until November 3.

The PNP are also monitoring possible protest actions that could coincide with the traditional observance of Undas over the weekend.
