The Philippine National Police (PNP) has vowed to intensify its manhunt for Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa after he failed to surrender within the one-week ultimatum issued by PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
In the report by DZRH's Edniel Parrosa, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Police Lieutenant General Wilson Lopez, who heads the task force pursuing Dela Rosa, maintained that their operation is already progressing, citing the numerous tips received through the hotline established to locate the senator.
“The mere fact na napakarami naming natatanggap na tawag o marami kaming natatanggap na impormasyon, masasabi po nating umusad na,” Lopez said.
Lopez also appealed to Dela Rosa, a former PNP chief, to surrender peacefully, saying he believes the senator would not want any police personnel to get hurt in the operation.
“Kung sa puso niya ay naroon pa ang kanyang pagiging tatay ng PNP, alam ko na hindi niya kaya na mayroong isa o dalawa o any members ng Philippine National Police ang masaktan,” he said.
The PNP's appeal comes amid the ongoing manhunt for Dela Rosa following an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
