Police will file charges against the family of the 14-year old girl killed in Cebu.
PCol. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP), revealed that the victim died due to an unintentional discharge of a gun, and that the family covered up the real circumstances that led to her death.
Initial reports claimed that an intruder killed the 14-year old girl.
"Ang totoo aksidente itong namatay dahil ‘yung isang kapatid niya ay nalaglag ang baril mula bulsa at tumamang aksidente ang bala sa kapatid nya na during that time ay nakahiga," Fajardo said during a press conference on Monday, April 29, at Camp Crame.
Fajardo said that the brother faces charges for obstruction of justice and reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Meanwhile, the father will also face charges for obstruction of justice for hiding the unregistered firearm, which caused the death of the victim.
Fajardo said that authorities obtained closed circuit television footages that show the accused cleaning up the crime scene, and discussing how to cover-up the crime.
The PNP official mentioned that the family even broke the door of their house to show that someone entered on Friday, April 26, and shot the victim.
