The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying over 16,000 officers for the three-day protests to be held on November 16 to 18.

According to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Spokesperson PMaj. Hazel Asilo, the office plans to station 16,433 policemen—from the initial 10,000—at various key locations in Manila, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa.

This comes in response to the United People’s Initiative (UPI) joining the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rallies against corruption.

In a press conference at Camp Crame, Asilo said the INCs will be conducting their activities at the Quirino Grandstand, while the UPI—with members who have introduced themselves as former members of the military—will be staging their demonstrations at the EDSA Shrine and the People Power Monument.

Part of the large deployment are augmentations from the regional offices of the PNP. The NCRPO expects to be on heightened alert during the protests.
