The Philippine National Police (PNP) submitted another set of boxed documents to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) concerning alleged anomalies in flood control projects, RH Jecelle Ricafort reports.
Recently, the PNP had also turned over 95 documents related to 28 “ghost” flood control projects in various regions. The PNP is assisting the ICI in conducting field validation on the projects under scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the third asset recovery meeting of the ICI technical working group, together with various government agencies, has commenced. Among those present was AFP Chief of Staff Romeo Brawner Jr., who declined to give interviews to the media upon entering the commission.
The meeting, led by ICI Commissioner Babes Singson, focused on inter-agency coordination for the restitution or recovery of ill-gotten assets.
Singson explained that Chairman Andy Reyes was absent due to feeling unwell. He also emphasized the importance of the meeting to expedite the return of public funds allegedly misappropriated from the people.
