The Philippine National Police (PNP) has no plans to conduct a loyalty check within its ranks, despite calls from some retired uniformed personnel urging the military to withdraw support from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In an interview at Camp Crame, Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. dismissed the rumors, saying there is no basis for claims of possible withdrawal of support from the administration.

“Kaya nga sinasabi natin na ang estado ng morale ng Philippine National Police ay relatively high,” Nartatez said.

“Hindi ko nakikita ang anumang batayan para patalsikin, gayundin sa pamumuno ng ating Presidente,” the actong PNP Chief added.

He emphasized that President Marcos was elected by more than half of the country’s voting population and has been leading the government’s campaign against corruption, a cause he underscored in his most recent State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Nartatez also clarified that no group or individual has approached the PNP with similar calls to turn against the Commander-in-Chief, stressing that the police organization remains united and professional in carrying out its mandate to serve and protect.
