The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun its security preparations for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
In an official assessment released on Tuesday, Acting PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated there are no serious security threats detected in connection with the upcoming observance.
Following the directive of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and the guidance of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the PNP said it will strengthen its public safety measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly commemoration of the Undas 2025.
Despite the absence of threats, the PNP will still declare a "full alert" status starting October 31, which is the highest level of readiness across all police units nationwide.
Earlier, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño announced that 25,000 police personnel will be deployed to cemeteries, transport terminals, and major thoroughfares to manage crowds and traffic.
The total number of security forces could reach over 50,000 with the help of augmentation units from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Aside from the 5,293 Police Assistance Desks and coverage of strategic areas, Nartatez also directed the Highway Patrol Group to intensify road monitoring and safety operations, particularly following a recent string of 'road rage' incidents leading up to Undas.
