The Philippine National Police (PNP) has clarified that the ongoing process to revoke the firearms registration and License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is a legal and procedural action and not politically motivated.

In an official statement, the PNP emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law in all enforcement actions, including the review and possible cancellation of firearms privileges.

“The Philippine National Police reiterates its firm commitment to the rule of law in all its actions. The revocation of firearms privileges is a legal and procedural necessity, not a political act. We will fulfill our mandate with discipline, transparency, and full respect for human rights,” the PNP said.

The police force added that all processes involving firearm permits are conducted strictly in accordance with existing laws, regulations, and established procedures.

“Any process involving the review, suspension, or revocation of firearms privileges is carried out strictly under existing laws, regulations, and established procedures. These actions form part of the PNP’s mandate to ensure responsible firearm ownership and safeguard public safety,” it said.

The PNP also assured the public that it will continue coordinating with concerned agencies and will carry out its duties in a fair and professional manner.

“The PNP assures the public that it will continue to coordinate with concerned offices and perform its duties in a fair, lawful, and professional manner at all times,” it added.

The statement comes amid ongoing proceedings related to the recommendation of the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and the Firearms License Revocation and Restoration Board (FLRRB) to cancel Dela Rosa’s firearms license and registration, in line with legal directives being implemented by authorities.
