The Philippine National Police (PNP) has approved the revocation of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s firearm licenses, according to a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Wednesday, May 27.
Based on a document accessed by DZRH, Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP-FEO) Chief PBGen. Jose Manalad has signed the recommendation for the cancellation of Dela Rosa’s firearm licenses submitted by the Firearm License, Revocation, and Restoration Board on May 26.
Records show that Dela Rosa possesses 117 firearms. He had a Type 5 License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), permitting his possession of over 15 firearms.
In relation to this matter, the PNP-FEO has sent a letter to the Police Regional Office 11, tasked to notify Dela Rosa’s household at his known address concerning the revocation of his gun licenses.
The Firearms unit has ordered the immediate surrender of Dela Rosa’s firearms.
Under Republic Act No. 10591, Section 4, a convict or accused facing a criminal case with a potential two-year sentence is not qualified to possess a firearm.
Deliberation on Dela Rosa’s case began when the Department of Justice (DOJ) ordered the implementation of the senator’s arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
