A provincial director and 10 other police officials in Pangasinan have been relieved from their posts following an alleged failure to detect illegal jueteng operations that were later uncovered in a series of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operations across the province.

The personnel were reassigned from Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) to the Police Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) and the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), effective April 27, 2026, police officials said.

Those relieved include one police colonel, five police lieutenant colonels, three police majors, and two police captains.

The order was issued by Police General Nartatez Jr., and was confirmed by Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson PBGen. Randulf T. Tuaño.

The relief of the officials came after the NBI conducted a series of anti-illegal gambling operations that resulted in multiple arrests across Pangasinan.

In San Carlos City, authorities arrested 49 alleged financiers and operators. In Rosales, 40 suspects were detained, including a former municipal councilor and a former municipal administrator.

In Calasiao, 34 individuals identified as jueteng personnel and operators were arrested, while 31 suspects were apprehended in Urdaneta City. In Manaoag, 25 individuals were also taken into custody.

All arrested suspects were brought under police custody and transferred to the Philippine National Police’s holding and accounting unit at Camp Crame while investigations continue.

Authorities have not yet released further details on the specific lapses of the relieved officials as probes into the illegal gambling network and possible oversight failures remain ongoing.
