The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured the public of its readiness to enforce additional arrest warrants against individuals implicated in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control scandal.
Acting PNP Chief, PGen Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said their operational procedures are in place “with or without warrants,” but emphasized that if courts issue new directives, the police force is “ready to implement them anytime.” The statement was made in a press briefing at Camp Crame shortly after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that a new arrest warrant is expected to be issued this week against government contractor Sarah Discaya.
Nartatez also revealed that PNP tracker teams are monitoring the whereabouts of previously ordered suspects, including those abroad. Of the 16 individuals linked to the Oriental Mindoro projects, eight are already under police custody.
Sarah Discaya is likewise facing charges in connection with a separate project in Davao Occidental, according to the PNP.
