The Philippine National Police (PNP) reaffirmed its readiness to serve an arrest warrant should the Sandiganbayan issue one against Senator Rodante Marcoleta following the filing of a plunder case by the Office of the Ombudsman.
PNP Acting Spokesperson PCol. Allen Rae Co said the police force is prepared to immediately implement any directive from the anti-graft court, adding that operational plans are already in place.
According to Co, the PNP will follow the same operational template used in implementing the court-issued arrest warrant against Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
He also noted that authorities have established coordination procedures with the Senate leadership should a warrant be issued while the Senate is in session.
The PNP's assurance came on the same day the Ombudsman formally filed a plunder case against Marcoleta.
Authorities also maintained confidence in their preparations despite the presence of supporters opposing any possible arrest of the senator, including members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). The PNP said it remains committed to carrying out its duties in accordance with the law and any court-issued orders.
